Spring clean your mind, your space, your environment

As we move further into Spring, now seems the perfect time to think about creating a fresh and clean environment not only for ourselves, our environment but our minds.

With longer days and more sunshine, we want to give you the tools to enjoy your days and make more space for collaboration and productivity.

It’s the sense of hopefulness in the air, and signs of new beginnings, that makes spring the perfect season for re-energising your body and freshening up your routines.

Here’s our 5 tips on how to get the most out of spring cleaning, and prepare for the months ahead:

Have a good clear out

A great way to get rid of those winter blues and spring back into your productive headspace is to have a good tidy up and blow out those cobwebs. Open up those windows, let the fresh air in and make time to clear out all the things you don’t need.

Clear out those desk drawers that are not being utilised and get rid of the old papers that have no use anymore, to create a desk space that will enable you to feel calm and clear in your mind.

Clearing out the old office furniture, a lick of paint and wallpaper galore will only go so far to transforming your environment for a spring transformation, but this is the first step to creating a sense of tranquility in the busy office environment.

Get some fresh air

With sunnier and warmer days, this is the perfect time to get outside. Getting outside will invigorate and freshen your mind for the trials and tribulations of the day to day. If you don’t want to walk alone, grab a colleague and have your monthly check-ins on the go.

Not only will you feel like you’ve been productive, but you will come back into the office feeling refreshed and able to face any challenge head on.

Get Healthy

A change of seasons is the perfect time to rethink old eating habits, make healthy food swaps and get a fresh start—in spring or any time of year.

It’s easy to let serving sizes creep up during the winter months. Make spring a time to cut back to healthier portions. A great tip is to use smaller plates or prepare your meals ahead of time, using containers to enable you to only eat the right portion size.

Your environment – Great British Spring Clean

From the 22 March – 23 April 2019, Keep Britain Tidy are running a campaign to improve the environment on your doorstep. They are calling on #LitterHeroes across the country, aiming to inspire 500,000 people to join forces – in partnership with community organisations, businesses and the government – to collect and safely dispose of litter from our streets, parks and beaches, recycling as much as possible.

Get a good night’s sleep

A good night’s sleep can certainly leave you feeling refreshed, but getting regular sleep is actually critical to your brain’s health. Sleep has been shown to improve memory, and one study even found that sleeping after you learn something new results in actual changes in the brain and better retention.

If you are trying to refresh your brain for Spring, start by getting a good night’s sleep!
